TAS 048 Why Amazon Sellers Are SCARED – Has Amazon Changed?

In this episode of The Amazing Seller podcast I'll discuss the recent discussion about Amazon and how they are starting to change the way the value promotions.

The BIG Question: Do Promotions Still Help Rank For Keywords?

I've said this all along. You want to treat this like a business and not try to hack Amazon's algorithm.

Here's a few points I discuss in this episode:

  • Don't Try And Fool Amazon
  • The Truth About Reviews – No Ranking Benefits
  • How I Use Reviews – (Not For Ranking)
  • Use PPC To Help Rank (Key Focus)
  • How I Use Promotions – Slow and Steady Approach

Understand that Reviews Help Convert, which = Sales, which = Keyword Ranking

Should I Still Use Keyword URL's?

It's not going to hurt, but I don't think it's something that has to be done. If you're going to give a URL out for a promotion, then use one.

REMEMBER:

The GOAL is to get steady sales and that will help drive organic sales. Once you start generating sakes on a regular basis, the keyword ranking will happen automatically.

  • Hi Scott,

My question is about reviews. Are we allowed to contact the top Amazon reviewers and ask them if they’re interested in trying our newly launched PL product? I’m selling on Amazon Canada so here is the link https://www.amazon.ca/review/top-reviewers

When you click into a profile and “Read More” there’s a link where you can “send email”. Are we allowed to do this or is this not allowed? Reason I’m asking is because a relatively new competitor (who just launched a couple of months ago) is suddenly high ranking and I noticed that they only have 4 reviews but one of those is from a top 500 Amazon reviewer and another is from a top 100 Amazon reviewer and was wondering how he got those. Seems like these reviews really helped his ranking as his BSR skyrocketed.

There isn’t much information on how to get your products reviewed by Amazon Vine members or strategies on how to get top Amazon reviewers to leave reviews. I know you mentioned doing promos or capturing emails but I want to specifically know how to get reviews from the top Amazon reviewers. Have any tips or ideas?

  • You’re the perfect example of that successful person referenced in this quote by Brian Tracy … “Successful people are always looking for opportunities to help others. Unsuccessful people are always asking, “What’s in it for me?” Thank you!!!
